About Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is the definitive treatment for excess or loose skin in the upper eyelid and puffiness by the lower eyelid. You may have lower eyelid puffiness/bags genetically or it may be a consequence of getting older--in either case, it tends to get worse over time. The best way to treat them is to remove the excess tissue (fat) from the inside that creates the fullness. The incision is made inside the lower eyelid and the fat is exposed then removed, leaving the overlying skin smoother and lying flatter. There are no external excisions, scars or stitches involved. The surgery may be paired with a skin tightening or resurfacing laser for complete rejuvenation.
When you have loose or extra upper eyelid skin, this is usually a consequence of aging. It happens to all of us to some degree at some point in our lives and worsens over time. In some, the upper eyelid skin can fall so much that it touches the lash line. The best solution is to surgically remove the excess skin. There is a line of stitches that must heal for 7 - 10 days, but once healed the suture line is hidden in the crease of the upper eyelid. Your result is eyes that look more open, awake and youthful.
